Get Your HR and Marketing on the Same Team

Although two very different departments, in an age where people are leaving their jobs at the highest rate since 2001, it’s increasingly important that your marketing and human resource department are working together.  But do you know why??

A Company’s Brand and Culture go Hand-in-Hand

At the center of a company’s brand is their mission, vision, and values.  The brand is an extension of what the company stands for and the experience they want customers and prospects to associate with them.  Similarly, at the center of a company’s internal culture should be their mission, vision, and values.  The messages sent by the marketing department to customers should match the messaging that HR speaks to its candidates and staff.

Your Employees are Your Best Brand Ambassadors

Your marketing and brand language should be disseminated through HR’s materials when training new hires and through the entire organization.   The staff should be aware of the company’s goals and what they are trying to accomplish through their marketing.  Employees that speak highly of their company’s brand attract both new customers and new employees.

Human Resources can Provide Rich Social Media Content

The human resources department usually has a hand in most of the organizations activities that involve the staff.  This includes various events, including staff outings, fundraisers, charitable activity, employee lunches, etc.  These events provide great opportunities to capture photos, videos, and other rich content to use on your social media.  This type of content also makes your brand more relatable.  This content can often be repurposed for other marketing pieces like customer newsletters or e-mails.

Regardless of the size of your company it is beneficial to your internal staff, external customers, and prospects that your HR and Marketing departments work together.  Cultivate a culture that leads to reduced staff turnover and more loyal customers.
